RedRain in '08

This year RedRain is expecting 2008 to be one of it's best years yet. The band is setting off on a world tour at the end of May. RedRain will be performing in new countries like Italy as well as rocking out in the rest of Europe, Asia, Singapore and the USA. Mike, Steve, David, and Dave are also excited because they are introducing some new tunes to their live show. For now, the "kiwi" rockers have come back together from time off and are currently in New Zealnd preparing new material to record their third studio album in 2009.

Stay tuned for more updates as RedRain gears up to kick off their '08 World Tour!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

RedRain now heads home for Christmas to be with their respective families and to take time off before getting ready for another jam packed year in '08. The band would like to wish everyone safe travels while getting home and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

West Coast USA(11-19-07)

RedRain touched down in San Fransisco, CA. and within a few days were headed for Oregon and Washington on the next leg of their tour. The band so far has had concerts through Oregon in Bend, Grants Pass, Roseburg, and Redmond. This leg of the tour has been very good for the kiwi rockers. Even though it's starting to get really cold, RedRain is looking forward to traveling north to perform in the Seattle Washington area in the coming weeks.

Scotland(10-29-07)

RedRain flew into Scotland primed and ready for their UK leg of the tour. The band's first concert was in Aberdeen. The energy was high and the Aberdeen fans loved the show as RedRain rocked out. After having a great gig in Aberdeen, the band headed south to Falkirk. Having missed a year in Falkirk, RedRain said they were excited to be back performing in the city again. After Scotland, RedRain heads back to the USA to finish out their tour along the West Coast.

Monaco/France(10-21-07)

The next stop for RedRain was Monaco and southern France. RedRain performed in two local pubs, one in Monaco and the other in Nice, France. The atmosphere was electric on both nights as the band rocked out, engaging the crowds in some good old fashion rock n' roll. Although the stops in Monaco and France were very quick, the band loved every minute of it and are looking forward to coming again. The band looks to head north to Scotland where they will finish out there tour of Europe.

Germany(10-16-07)

Cooler weather met RedRain as they touched down mid Tuesday morning in Hannover, Germany. With jetlag being an unfortunate side effect of flying and the band playing that same night in Stade, the crowd welcomed them with open arms and the place was rockin'. Over two weeks RedRain played in cities like Uelzen, Hannover, and Tostedt. The band got the chance to play in schools and pubs, getting a great response from the German crowds everywhere. RedRain also took a day off to visit Heide Park. More crazy rollercoasters!! The band now looks ahead to a few days off in Belgium before heading south to rock with the crazy crowds in the south of France and Monaco. Rock on!! Germany, next stop Monaco!!

USA/ Midwest (9-27-07)

After being in the studio for five weeks, RedRain was ready to hit the road for part of their '07 USA tour. The midwestern hospitality and blistering heat welcomed the band as they made stops in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Missouri and Tennessee. RedRain also took the opportunity to put some of their new songs through the infamous road test and so far the crowds in the midwest have loved their new stuff. Although the band was extremely busy on this tour, RedRain took a day off and paid a visit to the legendary Cedarpoint amusement park in Ohio where they got to ride some of the coolest rollercoasters on the planet. RedRain has had an amazing tour so far and now head back to California to do a short stint through Los Angeles and San Diego before taking off for their Europe tour in October. The band will be looking forward to the amazing European crowds and some cooler temperatures finally. Next stop, Germany!!

California(8-4-07)

Red Rain flew into California last week to begin preproduction on their new album set to be released in May 2008. Touching down in the golden state they were welcomed by a heat wave that is breaking all kinds of records as it moves across the USA. Coming from a relatively cool and wet winter in New Zealand they are relieved to be tucked away in an air conditioned studio where the wonders of modern technology have created a home away from home. Creativity in this environment has been flowing and we are all excited to say that already this album has the makings of something pretty special. The boys will continue to be in the studio till the beginning of September where they hit the road for three months touring in USA and a month in Europe and the UK

Singapore(19-6-07)

RedRain had another amazing time this year in Singapore! They played two sold out shows over the weekend with crowds reaching over 1000 people each night. Singapore has been an awesome place to play over the years, the people are great, the food is great, and it's always good to get some awesome shopping in as the annual Singapore sales are in full swing. From Singapore, Red Rain is heading to Sacramento, CA for 5 weeks of preproduction on their new album. Next stop USA!!

India (12-4-07)

Red Rain kicked off the '07 tour with a 9 day tour of India. The boys found themselves in some new cities this year like Dimapur and Shillong while also hitting great places like Bangalore, Cochin, and Chennai. This years' tour of India has been the best that Red Rain has seen yet. With the crazy Indian crowds reaching from 1000 to 5000 people. So long for another year India, next stop.... Singapore!!

Red Rain back together after two months R&R

Red Rain members start making their way back to NZ this month after two months apart. After a very busy schedule in 2006 the band decided to take an extra month to rest and recoup with family and friends. 2007 sees the band the hit the studio to re- record some old songs and work on some new ones. They have some great tours planned for the year starting at the end of March in India and will be in the states and Europe from Sept through Dec.

Oregon (13-12-06)

After a great tour of California the Red Rain team made their way to Oregon for concerts in Grants Pass, Smith River, Roseburg, Eugene, Salem, Portland, Bend, and Redmond from there they drove to Washington state for concerts in Seattle , Bellevue and then back to Oregon for the grand finale in Klamath falls. Once again all concerts were well attended and a huge hit with the locals. The only set back for the month occurred on a crisp fall evening when Red Rain drummer David Pfanstiel broke his knee on a rock while moving to catch a frizz bee. A potential tour ending injury for him was over come in heroic fashion when he was able to continue play drums with one leg in a cast.

All band members flew home today and will come back together in February. It has been an amazing year and we all look forward to next year. The band wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy new year!! See you in 2007

News updates will start up again in February 2007.

California (1-11-06)

Red Rain arrived into America’s golden state California 3 weeks ago after beginning their tour of the USA in the Midwest. The busy schedule that has been standard this year continued in California with concerts in Auburn, Sacramento, San Diego, UC Davis, Tracy, Dixon, Imperial Beach and Lancaster. From one end of California to the other the band rocked out to audiences who loved every minute of the music from down under.

Next week the band hits Oregon

West Coast/Mid West USA (12-10-06)

Red rain flew into Boston three weeks ago after a busy European tour that climaxed with great shows in Israel’s historical cities Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The band had a smooth flight across the Atlantic Ocean that only weeks earlier was the center of world attention as British intelligence agency’s foiled a plot by terrorist’s to blow up ten airliner’s over this vast ocean on their way to America.

Arriving into America with heightened security is nothing new to the band it has become common place, the concerning thing is that it doesn’t seem to be going away. On September 11 2001 the world changed forever, even more motivation for the band to be sharing their music with the world. At the heart of their music is a desire to make a difference in people’s lives. World tour 2006 which started Singapore in May has touched people from all cultures and walks of life, now in America the goal is the same.

Red Rain played concerts in Springfield Massachusetts then flew to Ohio for concerts in Toledo, Cleveland, Sandusky and Lima. From there they performed in Detroit Michigan Cape Girardeau Missouri and onto Memphis Tennessee. The Midwest tour was finished with a concert in Little Rock Arkansas. All concerts were a great success and many found solace in their music.

Next stop California

Israel (18-9-06)

Almost a month after the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, Red Rain flew into Ben Gurion International airport for some much needed time out after a busy concert schedule in Europe. Visiting the Holy land has always been a dream for many of the band members and after a month of not knowing if they would be able to stop because of the war, they were very excited to touch down and visit this beautiful nation.

Guided by one of Jerusalem’s most experienced guides the first three days were full of adventure and intrigue. From Hezekiah’s tunnels to the Dead Sea everyday brought to life centuries of history as written in the Bible and other historic books.

After seeing the many historical sights it was a great honor for the band to be asked to perform two free and intimate shows, one in Jerusalem on Zion Square the other at the beachfront on the promenade in Tel Aviv. The connection for both shows was something special as was expressed in a very touching and humbling email posted on the web by Liana Meir a young lady who attended the Tel Aviv show on the beach front

Posted by Liana Meir in Israel @ 19:10 on Sep 16 2006

I just saw the band performing here in Tel Aviv, it was absolutely awesome! The world needs more bands like them. They are very talented and they sing from their heart. I was most of all overwhelmed from their decision to come and put on a nonprofit show in the most dangerous war zone in the world. Just singing for us with such simplicity and love reminded us that our country is beautiful and that we are blessed to have it. It is easy to forget because of the hard days that have been forced on us.

Thank you Red Rain.

Next stop America….

Ukraine (11-9-06)

Red Rain arrived into Kiev Ukraine two weeks ago after a very successful time in Lithuania. With concerts in Inergodar, Ginichesk, Solionoe, Novomoskovsk, Ternovka, Dneproptrovsk, Vasilkovka, Kharkov, Pershotravensk, and Lozovaya, it was a very busy schedule. Apart from the first concert in Inergodar that was rained off, all the concerts were a huge hit and once again Ukraine has become a highlight for the band on world tour 2006.

Next stop Israel

Lithuania (26-8-06)

Red Rain flew into Vilnius Lithuania on Monday for concerts in this very beautiful and historic nation. Independent between the two world wars, Lithuania was annexed by the USSR in 1940. On 11 March 1990, Lithuania became the first of the Soviet republics to declare its independence, but Moscow did not recognize this proclamation until September 1991 (following the abortive coup in Moscow). The last Russian troops withdrew in 1993. Lithuania subsequently restructured its economy for the integration into western European institutions; it joined both NATO and the EU in the spring of 2004.

Both concerts held in Vilnius were organized by the Famous Lithuanian opera singer Vaidas Vysniauskas (As shown centered in the above photo). The band met him in Latvia last year and he invited them to Lithuania. It was a great honor for the band to accept his invitation; both concerts were a great success with the locals. The band has been invited back for a national tour in 2007.

Next stop Ukraine…

United Kingdom (22-8-06)

The last two weeks in the UK have been absolute bliss for the band and road crew. After a very busy six weeks in Europe with temperatures in the high 30’s low 40’s, the cooler climate and slower pace was a welcomed change for everyone. Picked up at 11pm on a drizzly Saturday night at Edinburgh airport in Scotland, it was a 3 hour journey to the Aberdeen base for week one of the two week stay.

The first few days in Aberdeen the guys rested and caught up on movies in the city centre. Superman Returns and Pirates of the Caribbean 2 had been out for the last month and although reviews from the band were mixed it was a great way to unwind after a busy few months. Aberdeen has some lovely links golf courses so a few of the golfing lads in the band took an afternoon off for 18 holes on the coast. For all the Rugby fans in the team the hosts had recorded some of the games from New Zealand for them to watch; the icing you could say, on a very delicious cake.

After the break it was back to work with a concert in Kilwining Scotland then in Beatles country Liverpool England. Both concerts rocked out, all who attended had a great time and loved the new songs from the bands latest recording “Symphony”. While in Liverpool the lads had a few days off so visited the city museum, the largest cathedral in the UK and the Cavern pub where the Beatles played many of there first gigs. During sound check for the Liverpool concert a man in his 60’s approached Steve the band’s bass player and informed him that he also played bass and used to jam with the Beatles in the early days. He shared some hilarious stories with the guys, a great ending to an excellent time in the UK.

Thank you to all the hosts and sponsor’s for making it special. Next stop… Lithuania and Ukraine.

Poland/ Germany ( 2-8-06)

With world cup fever over in Europe the band drove from Budapest Hungary through Slovakia two weeks ago, to the former eastern German city of Gorlitz. After being in Germany a month earlier it was a stark difference returning post world cup to a nation that was very close to realizing their dream.

As Israel began making moves into Lebanon the band prepared for a busy 10 days with concerts in Chemnitz Germany and Bogatynia, Gryfow, Olszyna, Zareba and Mirsk Poland. After an excellent tour here last year the concerts were a great success, many of the locals returning for another dose of the boys from down Under.

It was wonderful to see the people respond to the music. In these lovely old towns and villages the concerts are always a family affair and very intimate in Nature. With most of the concert stage’s situated in the town square and surrounded by restaurants and apartments, the audience varied as people listened from the vantage point of their apartment balcony to the comfort of their dinner table.

Once again the band was a hit and Poland is fast becoming a favorite place to play for the boys. The people here appreciate the sound of music and love to have a good time. One of the restaurant owners was so grateful for the band coming to play he gave all the team Pizzas on the house. The food here is great!!

Next stop the United Kingdom…concerts in Scotland and England

Hungary (18-7-06)

Red Rain drove into Hungary from Vienna for a one off concert in Baja on Saturday night. Travel time for the band around 7 hours in total was made a little easier by the beautiful scenery that greeted them along the way.

The concert, held in a pub located in one of Baja’s parks on the Saturday night was open to the public. All who attended loved the music and made a great connection with the band.

The next day the band drove 6 hours north to Hungary’s most famous city Budapest. After arriving to their Hotel the band went to see the historical sights of the city. Budapest has some of the most incredible architecture in the world. A must see if you are in the area.

Next stop Germany and Poland

Austria (15-7-06)

Vienna Austria home to some of the most famous music composers in history and a leader that changed the world. Names like Mozart, Beethoven and Adolph Hitler gave the band food for thought as they flew into Vienna three days ago. An incredibly complex and diverse group of personalities, all influenced and were influenced by this historic city.

So why Vienna, what was in the air when these men who have made such an impact on the world were developing their art and vision here. Having three days in the city with concerts at the Prater every night was hardly enough time to be able to give an intelligent answer to this question. What we do know is all three men were incredibly colorful and complex creatures from different walks of life who found Vienna their place of inspiration for a season in their life.

Over three nights the band rocked at the Prater, Vienna’s main recreational park. Two local bands opened for Red Rain, each night the crowds came and loved the music from all the groups involved. The final night was scheduled the same night as the rolling stones who were playing 1 km down the road. Many of the fans walking past the Prater to the Rolling Stones concert stopped and listened to the Red Rain concert before moving on to the Stones. One of the locals commented to the band “so what’s it like opening for the stones?

The band had a great time in Vienna with many touched through the music. They have been invited back for next year.

Next stop Hungary.

Monaco (12-7-06)

Red Rain drove into Monaco on Monday the day after Italy beat France in the football world cup final. Monaco geographically situated between both countries was a nation with mixed emotions. For those of Italian origin incredible pride and passion, for those of French origin an empty feeling of coming so close to the prize but leaving empty handed.
Probably the better team on the day history will never forget the circumstances that surrounded France and their heroic captain Zadine, his actions turning the game in favor of Italy.

The band played at Monaco’s Le Baltik to a great crowd that night stopping half way through the concert for a rare intermission, so everyone could see the Monaco sky light up with fire works celebrating the festival of arts. The concert continued on into the night after the festivities were over. All who attended were though roughly entertained and touched through the music.

Monaco has become great little stop for the band, the next day the road crew drove 10 hours to prepare for concerts in Vienna Austria. The band had a day off relaxing on a launch in the city. They flew out to Vienna from Nice France on Wednesday.

Next stop Vienna Austria

France (8-7-06)

After a few days break in Mons Belgium, Red Rain arrived into Paris last week rested and prepared for a whirlwind ten day tour of France.

Set once again to the backdrop of the football world cup the boys kicked off their tour in a beautiful old theatre in down town Paris close to the Eiffel Tower called the Salle Adyar. Scheduled the same night as the quarter final football match between France and Brazil the concert was a great success and finished in time for the locals to see the second half of the big game. The band, invited to watch the final minutes of the game in a pub a few doors down from the concert venue, could not have imagined the celebrations they were about to witness as France knocked Brazil out of the world cup. It was like nothing they had experienced before.

Driving home they were met by a sea of extremely vocal and excited fans. Thousands of them from all ethnic groups, colors and religions joined in unity waving flags, tooting horns, hugging, dancing, and hanging out windows. From one end of the most famous street in France the Champs Elysees to that historical monument the Arc de Triomphe it was bumper to bumper traffic and fever pitch noise. What would have normally taken a few minutes took over an hour as Paris and France came to a stand still to celebrate their team’s victory.

The next day the band drove two hrs east to the quaint and beautiful city of Dieppe. Dieppe, located on the west coast of France in the province of Normandy was host to sail boats competing in the 2006 Tour de France. The band, invited back after a great show at the same event last year did not disappoint. On a beautiful calm and clear night the crowds were entertained as they waited for the boats to arrive into the port of Dieppe.

From Dieppe the Red Rain convoy headed to the south of France for concerts in Avignon and Marseille. Greeted by temperatures in the high thirties Avignon was the first stop.
Semifinal time in the world cup tournament the band was post match entertainment for both games played on consecutive nights in two of Avignon’s popular pubs the Red Lion and an Irish Pub. Germany went down to Italy in the first semi, the next night France beat Portugal earning their spot in the world cup final. The band rocked out both nights and made a great connection with the crowd and management. The manager of the Irish pub has invited the band back for next year and has asked them to play in another five Irish pubs throughout France. The Marseille concert brought an end a very successful and enjoyable tour of France, good luck to France as they play Italy in the world cup final on the weekend. “Viva le France!! Next stop Monaco.

Germany (26/06/06)

Red Rain left the sandy shores of the middle east three weeks ago bound for a country that was about to be hit with the hurricane of a world fanatical about The Football World Cup. Germany 2006 will go down in history for the band, not only for what went on during the tour but for what went on around the tour.

Football fans from all over the world collided on this beautiful country and as of writing we are two weeks away from finding who will be crowned champions of the world.
Only yesterday Italy knocked Australia out of the tournament it was incredible as the band arrived into Belgium from Germany to see youth running, driving, shouting, and tooting horns in the streets all carrying the Italian flag rejoicing over the win. If this was in Belgium it would be amazing to be in Italy.

Germany 2006 for Red Rain was for the most part another great tour of the country. Many of the concerts were organized to go together with the world cup games that Germany played. It was a great experience to see the German people so excited about their team, the boys played before and after concerts and the response was great.
Speaking to many Germans the World Cup has been a real boost for the country and is going along way to restore pride in the nation.

The band had great success in the schools here also. The response from the students and teachers was outstanding the band has been invited next year to do concerts and also music workshops in the schools. Their message of anti –drugs, faith, hope and love has been embraced by people of all ages, and their music has touched many.

Next stop is Belgium and then they start their tour of France with a concert in Paris on Saturday night. See you there!!

Dubai (08/06/06)

Sand, sand, sand and then there’s this huge developing metropolis in the middle of the desert called Dubai. What an incredible place it is becoming, the jewel in the crown of an area in the middle east called the United Emirates. The band arrived into Dubai yesterday morning after a wonderful time in Pakistan.

Another short stay the boys touched down in Dubai at 5:50am, and went straight to the comfort of their rooms for a quick kip before heading to the concert venue at 3pm for set up and sound check. The concert started at 8pm and after a shaky start the place packed out. What we all thought was going to be an interesting night singing to the chairs turned to be a cracker as the place filled up and the crowd went wild.

The new songs in the Red Rain set from their latest recording Symphony seem to be taking off nicely. From the edgy guitars and groove of Wanted to the anthemic power of Inside the boys, playing these songs in the set for the fourth time are starting to see them come alive. It’s all about time in the saddle and it’s great to be able to have that time for the songs to achieve their full potential.

Everyone loved the music, the atmosphere electric with that spiritual element that Red Rain is known for. The band flew out to Germany at 1:40am

It’s going to be another great year!!!

Pakistan (07/06/06)

Red Rain flew into Islamabad today less than one year after the terrible earthquake that killed 70,000 rocked this region of Pakistan. It was hard to see anything of this nature had happened in Islamabad, and was not until the band began to talk with some of the locals that the enormity of the disaster began to be uncovered. The effects of the earthquake were felt for miles and one man said that 5 people he new who were at the Red Rain concert in Islamabad last year had died.

The venue for this year, located in a beautiful park under the shadow of the Himalayan foothills was the perfect setting for a wonderful concert. The sky was clear and as the sun began to set it was hard to believe such calamity had destroyed the peace only months earlier. For the band it was timely reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of living each day with respect and honor.

From beginning to end of the concert the band gave their best and made a great connection with the crowd. Everyone enjoyed the sound of rock and at least for a moment the band was able to help take the peoples minds off the pain of the last 8 months. It was a special honor to have a Secretary from the Pakistan Government and a Supreme court Judge at the concert. Both expressed great pleasure in been apart of the event both loving the music and the words of encouragement. The secretary said to Michael that when she came to the concert she had a headache; she said that when the music started it left her. She was very excited and would love to come to New Zealand some day.

For the band this will go down in history as their shortest stay in a country. They flew in at 11am and left to Dubai at 3am the next day. We continue to keep the people of Pakistan in our prayers as they continue to rebuild their beautiful country.

Next concert Dubai.

India (05/06/06

Red Rain flew into Bangalore India today to begin a whirlwind 6 day tour of the country. Soon after landing they were picked up at the airport and taken to their Hotel for refreshments and preparation for a press conference in the city the next day.

Bangalore one of India’s music centers welcomed the band with open arms, the press conference was attended by reporters from the major newspapers in India. The band fielding questions raging from social issues in India to their (India’s) national cricket team answered all questions well then entertained the press with two songs from their albums New Day, and Symphony. Enthused by the songs cameras began flashing in all directions. It was a great start to the tour.

After the press conference the band rested up and made their way to Bangalore’s premier hair salon Nayna. Nayna one of the sponsors for the Bangalore concert to be held on the weekend offered to cut style and color the band as part of their sponsorship. The entire band and management had something done, David Francis got a color, David Pfanstiel got highlights, Michael had an interesting style, Steve well who knows, Dan gave it a miss and Natasha had a manicure, cut and style. From the salon the band made their way to the train station to catch the over night train to Trivandrum.

The band arrived into Trivandrum 18 hrs after the train left Bangalore. Monsoon season is a very wet time of year for India so the train had been delayed 6 hrs as a safety precaution.

The Trivandrum concert was packed out. Because of the monsoon season the concert had to be indoors and was a great success. From Trivandrum the band flew back to Bangalore for their concert on Saturday night. It rained all day and night and even though the concert was sold out many people who brought tickets could not make it to the venue because the rain caused such traffic jams. Everyone who did attend the event loved the music and many lives were touched.

Sunday night was the last concert for the band. Playing at the global day of prayer festival in Bangalore the band rocked out, the crowd of close to ten thousand loved the boys from down under. It as a great ending to a whirlwind tour.

Next stop Pakistan…

Singapore (30/05/06)

No sooner had Red Rain made the finishing touches to their latest album Symphony; they were on a plane bound for Singapore. Singapore the first of 17 countries on their 7 month world tour has been very kind to the band in the past and this year was no exception.

After an 8 hour flight they were picked up and taken to the Crown Prince Hotel. Set in the heart of Singapore and situated on Orchard road in the main shopping district it was a lovely place to have few days to rest before the Main Concerts on Saturday and Sunday night.

The promotional campaign was bigger than ever this year with articles in all the major news papers and magazines. The venue one of Singapore’s finest, the Kallang theatre
Previously home to world-renowned musicals such as Les Misérables became home to the Kiwi rockers. For two consecutive nights crowds that filled the theatre jumped, screamed and sang their hearts out as once again this beautiful city in the heart of Asia
Came alive with the sound of music.

At the end of the second concert, the band invited the crowd to jump on stage and rock out with them. Hordes of young people ran up and began to dance along with the band as they played, and those in the seats swarmed up front near the stage area. Singing again to the familiar strains of “Red Rain”, “Summer” and “Oasis”, everyone was ecstatic.

The atmosphere was so charged that the band refused to end, breaking out instead in a reprise of the theme song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” from the cartoon movie “The Lion King”. And in true spontaneous fashion, the crowd sang along with them.

The high of the concert came when Michael had every one joining hands as he led them in the old hymnal favorite “Amazing Grace” and ended the night on a spiritual note.
He reminded us yet again that amidst all the rock, jumping and lions, it’s always about Jesus and His saving grace.

The band now head for India.

Album Release (15/05/06)

It’s been a busy few months for Red Rain as they wrote and recorded their second album Symphony at their studio in Tauranga, New Zealand. Listeners will find this album a definite step up in quality and creativity from their first, New Day. A sign of growth within the group that is refreshing to all who follow them around the world. We have been hard at work, creating our new album "Symphony".

New web site published (12/05/06)
In conjunction with NZ software company IT Matrix, we have completely remodeled our web presence. All artwork for the site was produced by our ace drummer Dave Pfanstiel, and the entire band contributed to the creative process. One focus of building the site was to set it up so we can maintain it while on the road (which is eight months out of the year). This has been achieved and the site will be constantly updated from wherever we are in the world. So please come back often to check out our progress!

Tour about to kick off (15/05/06)
